2K do the same thing.

The error message blue screen which halts the winXP when moves to another PC:

A problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer.

If this is the first time you've seen this stop error screen, restart your computer. If this screen appears again, follow these setps:

Chech for viruses on your computer. Remove any newly installed hard drives or hard drive controllers. Check your hard drive to make sure it is properly configured and terminated. Run CHKDSK /F to check for hard drive corruption, and then restart your computer.

Technical information:

*** STOP: 0x0000007b (0xFC8D2528, 0xC0000034, 0x000000000, 0x00000000)

I think windows XP will stop working when you move it to a new computer to prevent piracy. Other wise you could just make copies of your hard disk and install them on multiple computers. 2k shouldnt do this tho.

I could be wrong. Anyone else?

... As well as the fact it's trying to load All the chipset/Audio/Graphics card drivers for the stuff in the old computer.

If it boots into Safe mode, do so, go into Device manager & remove EVERYTHING, then reboot it and let it detect stuff, using any new driver disks as necessary.

A reformat + re-install is always a better option when doing this though.

You've probably moved it to another machine which is a different chipset or CPU architecture, in which case Windows needs a different Hardware Abstraction Layer (HAL). It is impossible to install another HAL on an existing installation -- the only solution for this is to re-install.

You can tell the Windows installer which HAL to use by hitting F8 (I believe) when you first enter the installer program, but I wouldn't mess with it, just let it choose automatically.

I moved from BX to i850E to i875P by simply doing a repair instal each time.
