My GPU ever since i got it (got it used) cant even run 144p without lagging and taking forever to load, any ideas why?

Solution
if you are actually playing at 144p and not 1440p Im guessing your ram is what is limiting because a gtx 1050 should run 144p but windows 10 uses almost 3gb so only 1gb for gaming is going to suffer in nearly anything.
Are you talking about 144p, or 1440p ? If using the GTX 1050 to game on 1440p resolution, then the card will lag and struggle to maintain a playable FPS, though this will also depend on the game being played, in-game settings applied, and the game engine. Also, that card is having 2GB VRAM frame buffer.

What's the refresh rate of your monitor btw ? And what games have you tried playing ? 144p should not be an issue.

The 1050 isn't a 1440p rated gpu, neither is the 1060 or amd equivalents. You'd need to hit a 1070 or Rx580 or above to have a halfway decent experience at 1440p.

If talking about 144p, that's the 256x144 that some youtube vids use for dial-up and other internet problem areas with ultra low bandwidth. It doesn't exactly scale well to older tvs/monitors using 4:3 as it's a 16:9 resolution.

Ninjapro. I believe an Acer ED3 is a 1440p (2560 x 1440 resolution) 144 Hz (FPS) monitor. If the monitor below is the monitor you have then no wonder you're struggling with gaming. What are the rest of your specs, including your CPU / RAM / PSU etc. Which games do you play?

My pc is an old build i made. The specs are an i5-2500k , 4 gb of ddr3 ram, motherboard is an asus p8z68-m pro, gpu is the zotac gtx 1050, an old case ,brand is “Thermal Master” the PSU comes with the case
