I have a seagate barracuda 500gb 7200rpm 16mb cache hard drive , and here's the deal ;When i first installed windows , it ran fine , then , a day after , performance dropped to 30mb/s ( read/write ) and the transfer speed were even lower at 3mb/s . I zero filled the drive and installed win7 again . Same thing , only that this time its painfully slow , it randomly freezes , internet speed is affected too topping out at 100-ish kb/s . Temps are normal at 40 degrees Celsius without a fan ( i have removed it , with a fan its like 35 ) and there is no indication of failure or malfunction , either mechanical or logical , not only because I cant recognize any , because seatoolls and HD tune as well as crystal disk info say so . It also seems to run at very fast rpm from times to times ... WTF .

my system specs ;

AMD athlon x4 750k
MSI a75ma-e35 mobo
8gb kingston blu 1600mhz
r7 260x 2GB OC by saphire
500W 80plus cooler master psu
SEAGATE BARRACUDA 500GB SATAIII 3.5'' ST500DM002
corsair carbide spec o2
optical drive

I have been trying to solve this for a month now , and its really getting my nerves , please help . If you need any further information , please let me know :)

thank you in advance

Drives only spin at one rpm 7200 in your case. If it is spinning up and down, try switching sata ports and power connectors. Also check the event viewer windows logs system. Look for disk or ntfs errors. Good luck. I do like the idea of an ssd however...

As I said - NO SIGNS OF MECHANICAL OR LOGICAL FAILURE - Just very poor performance , until now ; Are these HDtune results OK ?

Sorry but I cant post the pic here so here's a link ;
