Hello,
first off, i used to use a 2-piece wireless set called Microsoft desktop 2000

<http://www.microsoft.com/hardware/en-us/p/wireless-desktop-2000>

The usb receiver broke after a long time of usage. It kept disconnecting and would not reconnect for a long time. Eventually, I switched to a VERY old microsoft keyboard with a PS/2 port, and a logitech usb mouse (theres no laser/light at the bottom and forgot the name).
After the wireless set broke and I plugged in my old set, I noticed that my youtube videos would skip/stutter on high definition videos. Games like Minecraft (offline) and Counter Strike: GO would FPS stutter/lag like CRAZY! This is odd because those games used to be lag free. Videos on youtube would lag, stutter, and skip when i change the quality to 720p and up.

What ive done so far:

-It can't be the internet connection because a game like minecraft, which i ran offline, continued to lag.
-I also tried uninstalling and reinstalling my graphics card drivers.
-I downloaded and ran CCleaner twice.
-I did a disk cleanup and disk defragment to no avail
-I checked my process in the task manager and it usually peaks to 40~70% when I run games.
-Did pingtest and its all completely fine. ping is always or usually around 18~20 ms
-Ran malwarebytes several times

I dont recall downloading anything fishy or suspicious that could have caused this. The only recent thing I did was swap my broken wireless set for my old keyboard an mouse. The lag started happening the night after.

PC Specs (built myself)

-MSI Global Z87-F45 Gaming Motherboard
-Intel Core i5-4670k CPU @3.40GHz
-8 GB of RAM installed
-nVidia Geforce GT 240
-Corsair GS700 PSU
I know the video card is really outdated, but it ran all my games ran smoothly before this mysterious lag.
Thanks for the help, this is really frustrating me 🙁

I was wondering if it was the keyboard, because of the ps/2 port, but I thought "nahh couldn't be.."

I'll make a trip to frys this friday, or the weekend, and pick up a usb keyboard. I will update later this week to see if it works.

I got a USB keyboard and a new graphics card. I got the Radeon R9 270x Crossfire GPU, but i'm still experiencing lag/low fps. I went into my BIOS and noticed the CPU heat is 99 degrees celsius. Could the lag/fps drop be caused by this?
