[SOLVED] Mysterious shut down

I will update this latter today when I return home. I have a custom built desktop I purchased about 3 or 4 years back. It has recently started shutting down every 15 to 30 mineuts. Naturely I though overheating was the cause so I took it to be cleaned up at a local computer repair place. They got it running and working for hours so it was assumed that the problem had been solved by the cleaning. I took it home and after 2 days the problem started again. On a hunch I moved the desktop downstairs where it started working . After a day the same problem. My question is could the power cord itself be the issue

Not unless it's grounding/shorting. If it doesn't look damaged then the chances of it being the power cord are almost none.

The power supply could possibly be the issue. What are your full system specs including make and model of power supply.

The PSU brand and model is on the information panel on the PSU itself or the box if you have the PSU box.
