Mysterious Unknown Devices in Device Manager

I'm not sure how much of a problem this really is, but its been there for a while. I have 3 devices in my device manager, "Ethernet Controller", "SM Bus Controller", and "Unknown Device" that fail to update or install a driver automatically. Windows can't seem to identify them at all other than by the generic names of the first two, and they have been there since I build the computer. Various peripherals have changed, so I'm thinking its something to do with the motherboard's I/O area, however I have all the motherboard drivers installed and updated. Any ideas? Build details are in my sig. Here is a picture:

Just install the driver that comes with your MOBO
Ethernet controller is for ethernet and Rj 45 cable
SM bus controller is System Management Bus Controller

My ethernet controller shows up in Network Adapters. In Windows 7 Home Prem 64 bit. Maybe Device Manager changes with the Windows and/or the motherboard.

@woworwow I already have installed the motherboard drivers from the disk, as well as online. Doesn't change anything.
@i7Baby I had the same issue when I had Home Prem installed on this computer.

That's why I'm thinking there's just some issue with part of my motherboard. I don't think it's anything serious, its just a bit annoying to have uninstalled/unknown devices sitting in device manager.

Maybe go through the list of what devices the mobo has - http://www.asus.com/Motherboards/P8Z68VGEN3/specifications/
and see if something's missing in the rest of Device Manager.

Wait a sec, Are you posting this using the computer with this problem?
If you can use your Internet cable then you're fine but somehow your windows have trouble using the driver, i wouldn't worry too much.
But the Unknown Device though
Try installing every driver from

Well, I assume the Ethernet Controller is the Intel LAN controller, but everything else seems to be there. And my desktop is wireless so I'm not really concerned about the Ethernet Controller.

Yes, it is the Intel gigabit controller. But the Unknown device is what worries me. Are there anything not working on your PC?

Everything seems to be working fine, and I've had this computer for a while now and gone through multiple keyboards, screens, mice, headsets, wireless adapters, and video cards, so I have no idea what it could be.

It probably isn't, but its one of those unimportant things that I'd like to find out what it is eventually.

Turns out the Unknown Device was the USB 3.0 Controller. Weird, since the USB 3.0 ports worked fine...Thanks for the help guys.
