N00b Needs Help Picking Between These 4 MoBo's

Hi, this is my build, CPU is non K model (not gonna overclock). I absolutely need onboard video, as i'll be getting a video card later on. I've already bought the memory and the ssd.


ASRock H170M Pro4 88$ Micro ATX

MSI Z170A PC MATE 90$ ATX

MSI H170 GAMING M3 100 $ ATX

Gigabyte GA-H170M-DS3H 90$ Micro ATX

My first choice is ASRock H170M Pro4 but there may be some problems acquiring this from newegg (it's complicated). Amazon is more convenient right now. What i would like to really know is if I'm missing something important in the other three compared to the ASRock H170M.

Is there a particular reason ? Is it because the Z170 chipset is better (idk, is it ?) ?

I'd go with the ASRock. That's a high end motherboard with high quality sound. The MSI motherboard only has the advantage of having more PCIe slots allowing you to add more graphics cards.

I would not worry about any of the brands you have listed here. They are all good brands. You only have to start worrying when you buy into a value brand like Biostar.

Thank you for the reply, I really appreciate it. The bad user reviews on those 2 msi boards had me worried tbh. I'll probably go with the z170A, or the as rock if the price on amazon dips a little within the next week or so.

I build with Asus, the Rock and GB, MSI I stay away from due to their poor QC, I get more trouble calls on their mobos than any two other manufacturers put together. Also at this point in time (it's getting better though) you'll see a lot of bad reviews on many of the the new Z170, H170, etc mobos, it's a new socket, new CPUs, new(er) DRAM (DDR4) and many going with Win10, which still has a ways to go on a number of compatibility issues

Don't curse me, but I'd rather have the micro atx version What about the gigabyte ? Gigabyte GA-H170M-DS3H 90$ It's micro atx as well. Would you say it's a "meh" card that I'd regret having over the h170m pro4 ?

How about the asus ? H170M-PLUS/CSM It's 104$ shipped at amazon.

There is almost always going to be bad reviews for a product. You only have to worry when there are a large amount of them. People are more willing to write a negative review than a positive and I know less people write a review when they are happy about their purchase.
