So for Christmas I got my kid a little tablet, the Nabi 2. It's designed for kids, but it runs a heavily tweaked version of some sort of Android OS. The cool thing is I picked one up for ~$130 @ Walmart on black friday, down from the typical $200 price tag. It runs on an nVidia Tegra 3, so for the price it's not half bad... Link to Nabi 2 website at the end of this post (not selling, just dont wanna list full specs).

I found a million and 1 ways to install everything I want to do on the First Gen Nabi, but I have the "Nabi 2" second Gen, and I want to install Google Play store to run in "Mommy/Daddy" mode so I can use it as a normal tablet (couple apps for games and youtube, etc). I know it worked on the Nabi 1, but I'm looking for:

- Reliable Download for the Google Play app that can be put from onto an SD card then onto the tablet
- Link to (or just post) instructions on how to install it, since all the Nabi 1 videos reference an "ES File Explorer" that isn't on the Nabi App store

Thanks :)

Hey there. The Nabi 2 cannot use Google play to download apps unless you actually root the tablet (which voids the warranty), but you can sideload apps if you have another Android device that does get have access to Google Play. Here are instructions on doing so:

That mentions using an SD card to shuttle apps back and forth, but you can easily do this via a wifi transfer app like Airdroid or a cloud storage service like Dropbox.

You can install Google Play and all other Google Apps. They will all work except Google Play will not let you update/install apps, only let you browse apps or download books/movies:

Finally, you can easily add the Amazon App Store and add any apps (except those marked "for Kindle"). Here's another link to get you started on that:

Good luck!
