Nail polish on cpu pins

When removing the cpu from the heatsink I accidentally got a few drops of nail polish on the cpu pins. There is also a few stains on the cpus pin side that cover half the cpu, a darker gold color that is.
The nail polish has the following:
acetone, water, butyl acetate, ricinus communis, seed oil and green 6 (CI 61565)
When I later tried to start up the computer, nothing shows up on the monitor, could the nail polish on the cpu pins be the reason for this?

Nail polish is an insulator not a conductor, its preventing those pins from contacting the motherboards socket. Not sure what the best suggestion is to give you. I advise against using a nail polish remover as they are corrosive, and will cause only more damage.

It could be possible that the lack of connection on some pins could have damaged the CPU also.

This is far outside of my realm of expertise (I am a guy lol), You can try a non-acetone nail polish remover as it is non-corrosive (only use it on the pins) and see if they helps.

Also if you haven't already done this try re-seating the processor in the motherboard.

You can try soaking the CPU in 91% or higher Isopropyl Alcohol letting it dry THOROUGHLY and then trying to use a very very soft tooth brush to clean it off. Possibly wont remove the nail polish though but at this point I would say it's worth a shot. If it comes down to it you could very carefully apply nail polish remover to the spots and attempt to remove it just know that the connections/metal will be degraded so the lifespan of the processor may suffer. A natural sort of nail polish remover may be a better choice than the standard stuff.

After googling the chemicals in the bottle you used (acetone, water, butyl acetate, ricinus communis, seed oil and green 6 (CI 61565), this appears to be nail polish remover not actual nail polish.

Isopropanol doesn't do anything against nail polish itself.

For a normal guy, you're pretty smart. Ran a bit of 90 % alcohol on the pins and now it starts up just fine! Thank you!

Acetone is most definitely not a component of nail polish. It is a principle component of nail polish remover.

Most of those compounds will evaporate at room temperature but any residue can be removed by carefully cleaning the socket with rubbing alcohol. Use a very fine brush so as to not bend the pins.
