A friend sent me this image for a PC Basics class he's taking, but he can't find anything about the port in his study material. The guys here at the office are stumped as well. We've guessed everything from an F port to and audio jack of some sort, but we can't find what it actually is, only guesses. If you have a better idea, or know what it in fact is, PLEASE let us know. I don't care about his classwork as much as I do the sanity of myself and my coworkers who are stumped.

It is definitely a power adapter port. The symbol means DC (solid line) AC (broken line) and represents the AC to DC conversion of that type of power adapter.

Google image search didn't turn anything up.

Power port was one suggestion but the port style itself is something we can't find an example of. The symbol underneath can be found on a few power adapters, but it looks like it's on apple products while PC and laptops use a different symbol to signify it's a power adapter.

It looks like a part from the inside of a cd-dvd-rom when you open it. It may be the plastic-part to get the cd stabel rotating over the laser.
