Was that a mouthful or what? Here is the long and the short of it. I want to install 3 of the best GPUs on a new Asus Z97-ws that I can run without using water cooling. No AMD. (Sorry, it's just a thing). The case is large with great air flow so no problem and the CPU is liquid cooled so even better.

I was originally going to run three GTX 780 6GB but after reading some reviews, I'm finding that these cards are running hot. One was okay, Two is very hot, Three is impossible on air. So, looking for another solution. I really want the best quality cards I can get for 3 way sli, or just awesome graphics at 2560 x 1440. If it's a 780ti x 3, then fine. Give me a brand that runs cool and has some reviews I can look at. For 3 way SLI, would I be better served with two Titan blacks? I will be honest. I have this slight adversity to the 780ti because I have heard that it isn't that great for multiple card sli. Maybe that is BS. Someone tell me.

Give me some ideas. I've got my entire rig built on my dining room table and just have to decide on these damm cards!

Solution
Well if money isn't an issue, the 780 TIs will run games better than the Titan Blacks, and of course better than the 780s. You won't see much of an improvement with 3-way SLI, and two cards will be enough.
I have been working on this build for a few months believe it or not and I had my mind set on 3 cards. There was no good reason. Only to say that since I was going to use three 27" monitors, I wanted to have a card dedicated to each monitor so as to keep them balanced. Makes no sense and I get that now. The reality is that most of the time each monitor would simply have basic info displayed, ie, spreadsheets, Lightroom, firefox. About 30% of the time, I would sli to one monitor for gaming. Less than 5% of the time I may choose to use Nvidia surround. Given this configuration, I had a difficult time deciding which GTX model to go with. I still think this is a tough time to decide on a new monitor. I really believe we are close to a new release (Aren't we always anyways!) so investing in a 780Ti x 3 seemed tough to swallow. Then I got on the 780 6 GB thing which didn't seem like a terrible idea since I was going with a triple 2560 x 1440.

So yes, I'm still a bit torn as my new rig sits here incomplete.
