Naming an external HDD

I got my external HDD today i.e WD Element 1TB and now i am wondering i there is any way
i can name my HDD permanently like no one can change the name even after formatting the drive?

I am taking about the HDD label and not the drive letter. I am pretty sure its possible because i have seen it with some blackberry phone's internal memory.

Nope, HDD's return to normal state after formatting. May be it remains the same for flash drives, but not for HDDs.
