I'm researching the various solutions to backup on my home network ... one device that will handle my desktop and a couple laptops all automatically. There are relatively inexpensive solutions from WD and Seagate, and others somewhat more expensive. All appear to get pretty tepid reviews by users with the common thread being lack of speed and spotty reliability. Is there a solution that won't cost and arm and a leg yet still do the job, or should I just give it up and go with my current solution of individual external drives?

SyncBack Free, and a couple of locations to copy to.

My current solution is simply another PC on the network. Nightly, copy over whatever folders I've designated. Automated at 2 AM and 3 AM, when 'speed' doesn't really matter.

Every once in a while (monthly or just after a major change), make a new 'image' of the C drive with DriveImageXML or CloneZilla.
