Not sure what your question is:

All three devices are identified as NAS devices and should work if plugged into a router port and configured (via the applicable User Guide/Manual) to join your network.

Would expect that you will need to assign a static IP to the NAS via the router and the NAS's MAC.

If you are asking which NAS would be best then you need to provide more information about your requirements and what you expect the NAS to be doing.

E.g., serve as site for system and data backups, store documents, video files.

Factors being drive performance, read/write speeds, capacity.....

The other factors: cost/budget, size.

For network folders, NTFS does not make sense, as long as the "server" obeys access control rules. Most (all?) NASes on the market use Linux as underlying OS, and you won't see NTFS-formatted drive there.

If your goal is to ensure you would be able to attach the disk to your computer in case NAS goes belly up - there are Windows utilities for access to Linux file systems.

Understood.

The DNS-321 IS a NAS device, thus it can be used as such.

In addition to prior replies by others, please be aware that while the DNS 3xx NAS devices from Dlink have a good history, Dlink is exiting the market. You will still be able to buy some new ones, but essentially Dlink isn't investing in them anymore.

That being said, I've been running 3 sets of the 3xx's for a number of years now without any issue. (Made sure I picked quality drives so no drive failures either).
