I'm looking for a NAS to back up my files to and put all my movies in and stream them to my chromecast 2. I found two to be suitable and financially acceptable: Synology DS218play and Asustor AS3202T. I am using plex on my PC and would like to use it on the NAS too. The Asustor is capable of running it and Synology isn't but Synology has a similar app, DS video. I am undecided because these two NAS devices cost the same; Synology is supposedly easier to use but Asustor is more powerful and can run plex. Please give some advice on which I should go with. Thank you all.

I'm not sure about performance on these but for Plex you don't need very much power for LAN streaming at native quality. It's the on-the-fly compression that needs a powerful cpu. I run plex off of an AMD e350 laptop, which is very slow.
