Hello everyone, I had a Synology NAS connected to the switch and therefore connected to the PC, TV, modem, and blue ray player. I had to replace it because it was broken and even though I just swapped it with the same one, I can no longer find it through the blue ray player and TV.

I can see it in Windows, either through the DSM web application or through network resources. What should I do to make it available to the other devices?

Thank you very much.

You may need to make sure that the TV and blu-ray player have the correct IP address for your NAS. It may have changed when you swapped them out unless you set it up with a static address beforehand.

You may also want to try refreshing the network settings on your TV and blu-ray player.

Also, even if you used the same Static IP address beforehand, remember that the new NAS has its' own unique MAC.

The new NAS may be identical in make and model but not (should not) have the same MAC.

So if the broken NAS's MAC is still in the ARP tables or otherwise "intact" somewhere then any devices looking for the NAS may be looking for the now non-existent broken NAS.

Be sure that configuration settings requiring a MAC are for the new Synology NASs' MAC.

Thanks for the messages. I did a reset the blu-ray player but still can't see the 423+ nas. I also tried connecting it directly without going through the switch, but nothing changed. I noticed that when I plug it directly into the Blu-ray player, the light behind the NAS is red instead of yellow. Why is this? What does it depend on?

Make and model Blu-ray player?

Regarding Synology NASs:

https://kb.synology.com/en-br/DSM/tutorial/Overview_of_LED_indicator_statuses_during_bootup

423:

I did not note a reference to a red LED on a Synology NAS. Verify that I found the correct Synology NAS model.

That said I noticed this:

"when I plug it directly into the Blu-ray player, the light behind the NAS is red instead of yellow".

Is the NAS somehow being daisy chained into the Blu-Ray player?

Line diagram where ----> represents an Ethernet cable.

Router ----> Blu-Ray Player ----> Synology NAS

That would be incorrect.

The Blu-Player and the Synology NAS should be connected to their own router LAN port.

Feel free to edit and correct my line diagram to show the connected devices and connection paths. Include port numbers. You mentioned a switch - include the switch in the line diagram.

Another thought is that there may be a network loop involved.
