Hello all,
I have problem I need help with.
My home setup right now is … 2 MacBook’s, 1 Windows 8 Tablet, 1 old Gateway TV and bunch of external hard-drives with all my music, videos, photos and files. As you can see this is just horrible for work, entertainment and especially for backing up everything. I don’t even have backup of my medias.
I want to build myself new Windows desktop, which will replace one of my MacBook’s (its old and slow and about to die), and I want to add TV to my bedroom.
My perfect world would be to have NAS or Windows Home Server with everything on it and have everything connecting and pulling data out of it. The trouble I have is that I can’t decide what to do.
I read a lot on NAS and Windows Home Server, but the more I read the more I get confused. Then there is the price, I plan to build $2000 PC and adding another $1000 NAS on top of it seems bit extreme. I know that NAS is capable of doing all I need, have all my devices connected to it, back up all my computer and watch or listen what I want on all my TV’s. I believe that Windows Home Server should do the same, but I am not completely sure about it since there is much less info on the net how to accomplish all of it, especially connecting TV to the Home Server.
The question is, Can Windows Home Server do what NAS can? Which is better?
Thanks for help.
