It is time to replace my old DLInk DNS 323
Thinking this time to use a 4 bay NAS so I can run RAID 5

I had been looking at the respected Synology DS423+ but it seems no 2.5GbE variant. I know I could add a USB3 ->2.5GbE but it's another device, cost & not supported by Synology.

Q1. Anybody recommend a NAS to consider that has 4 Bays and 2.5GbE in the same price range of DS423+
The QNAP TS 433 seems an option ... not familiar with QNAP

Q2. As my PC has WiFi6E are there any NAS units that support WiFi6E that would also get me much better than my current 1Gbe, or is that not a good idea.

1. I have a QNAP. Several years old now. I like it.

2. The NAS would be hardwired to your router. WiFi on the PC is irrelevant.

3. Why RAID 5? With a proper backup routine, most RAID types are irrelevant in the consumer world.
When I first got mine, I tried the RAID 5 for a while. 4x 3TB. Later, I upgraded it to 4x 4TB.
Not long after that, I realized that the RAID was just wasting drive space, and wasn't really needed.

I absolutely loved my DNS 323 aside from the drive size limitations. At this point I cannot imagine there being security updates for those anymore. It was so easy to work with, reliable...just a great unit for the cost.

NAS and WIFI are a poor combination. Why? Because WIFI is 1/2 duplex. That means transmit OR receive. So data being transmitted from the NAS to the client has to be interrupted to get the status of the transfer from the client. And WIFI6E generally only works in the same room as the WIFI source (router or AP) because it doesn't penetrate walls.
I have two Synology DS720+ units. I have added the USB3 2.5GE Realtek adapters when I updated my core switch to 2.5GE.

Couple things (btw, were you on avforums?)
if you have any important data, stick with RAID 5 or 0 or something, not JBOD, and/or a backup elsewhere. RAID 5 (or 0) is not a backup but it's better than nothing. Picture everything gone and what you would do. It does happen.

As far as I know, only QNAP is putting 2.5gbe ports into their smaller NAS units, like this one

QNAP and Synology are the two major players right now AFAIK, along with Buffalo, Terastation, and I think even Netgear bringing up the rear. Western Digital has the "MyBook" line or something like that, but most people like to buy those on sale and rip (or "shuck") the drives out of them and stick them in QNAPs or Synologys
