NAS solution for video editing/animation

Okay, I’m looking at putting together some kind of networked storage for video editing/effects/annimation. Basically, all the project files (everything, textures, models, videos) would be stored on the NAS. I would open them from my computer over the network. The reason I want it to be an NAS (or maybe something else that does the same thing?) is because I’ll need multiple people accessing the system for different things. So maybe I would be editing a video with FCP, while my colleague would be animating in Blender. But then, I want to go back later and tweak his textures; maybe he would take a look at my edit. But it would have to be a pretty high speed, right? What kind of options do I have?

Nuts and bolts of requirements:
a) Speed high enough for video editing. (both with the drives and the network)
-So maybe RAID
-Fibre Channel network maybe? 10gbs ethernet?
b) Access for multiple computers simultaneously.
c) Several TB of storage :)

Just want to hear some ideas. I don’t currently have a budget. It’s a pipe dream! 😀 So assume that cost doesn’t matter, and go from there.

Something I saw: http://www.studionetworksolutions.com/evo/
Maybe building something like that myself?

Thanks!

Very nice. So that could be high speed when configured in RAID. So the network capacity is next. What do I need to build a network that's fast enough to support HD video editing? Is Gbit ethernet fast enough?

Uncompressed HD, especially 4:2:2, steams at 220 mbps. If your working with 422 go with eSATA link on the G-Technology drives. That will give you more than enough speed.
