Hi,

This question sounds a bit silly to me, but here goes:

On modern storages that have both the ethernet port and USB, is it possible for both ports to be active at the same time?

To give an example, a MyCloud 2TB which has both network port and USB, could I stick network cable from my router into it, copy files to it from my PC, and then access the files from my TV through the USB cable which is in it at the same time?

In my mind there shouldn't be a problem but a friend told me this doesn't actually work as there muight be conflicts if both interfaces try writing (or deleting?) to the same file, so I wanted to check?

Thanks

Whether the TV will recognize a USB connected NAS box probably depends on the TV.

Or, you get one with HDMI port(s), like my new Qnap.
Play movies direct to the TV.

Ethernet, USB, and HDMI all active and accessible at the same time.
The preferred method is put your TV on the network. But to answer your question, each piece of hardware has different capabilities. The example "MyCloud 2TB" is really just a 2TB drive with minimal hardware and software, hardly what most would call a NAS. So check with the manufacturer, they can tell you for sure.

Thanks. Yeah, I wasn't necessarilly going with MyCloud, I just used it as an example - we've got one in the office, and I looked it up, has both network and USB port. That's the only reason why I mentioned that one in particular.

For example, I just googled quickly, Synology DS114 has both LAN and USB 3, but it does not state if USB is just for additional hard drive, or can it be plugged into TV, say.
