NAS transfer speed slow?

Hi all,

I have a QNAP TS-453A with 4x 8TB Seagate drives.

Firstly, when I move files around within the NAS itself for organisating I find the speed a bit slow at 10MB/s.

Second, I have 2 PC's both using a 960 Evo and the transfer speeds from the NAS a vastly different. 1 PC gets over 100MB/s but the other a measly 10MB/s. The faster PC is on a newer chipset (z270) while the other is a z97 though but still should be fast.

PC's and NAS are connected to a switch connected to a powerline adapter to the moden/router.

I also have a TS-453A, 4x 4TB Seagate Ironwolfs.

Your PC->NAS performance is a network issue. 1 at over 100MB/s (possibly 113MBs?) is typical for a gigabit LAN.The other at 10....that is something to do with that specific PC.

What do you have the NAS plugged into? The same router as the PC's?

Yes, it's about 113MB/s. Yeah, I'm thinking it might have something to do with using an NVMe drive when the board doesn't fully support it. PC's and NAS are connected to a switch > powerline adapter > router

It's a VII Hero board with 1 m.2 slot so it's in there.

Yes, both PC's connected to a switch which is connected to a powerline adapter.
