NB/SB HSF

I put a $3 Scythe Mini Kaze on the NB. The stock heat sink went from scorching hot to just above body temp.

I justed wanted to make sure it would fit on there. I know the tuniq is massive itself and not sure how much clearence i would have between it and the 8800

edit: also since this will go into an antec 900 case - it will have to mount sideways with the fan pointing up to the 200mm top fan

another question would it be possible to slip a 40mm fan on top of that heatsink as well under the tuniq or what other hsf would you recommend that would allow me to just tack a fan on top of the nb

my only question is if you can squeeze a 70x70x15mm fan on there or if it would be to tight of a squeeze betwen that and the gpu

otherwise the case and hsf are the same - the motherboard is an asus but the layout for expansion slots, ram, cpu are exactly the same as the ds3 😀

Thats the stock HS with a Scythe Mini-Kaze.

The HS that came on my DS3 (V3.3, about two weeks old) has verticle fins without all of the curvy eye-candy. It is distinctly different from many other pictures I've seen, and from the HS on the display boards at Fry's.

The Mini Kaze is turned face down to blow into the HS. The Scyte sticker is on the other side.

I posted another picture of the HS without the mini kaze over in the DS3 forum.

no i ment what are you using on your cpu - because i am mainly looking at getting a tuniq and i don't think it has that kind of clearence

if i get the tuniq will most likley get a hr-05 to replace the original nb hs with

Are you sure? I think a 40mm fan will fit.
