Yes, it's as weird as it sounds. I upgraded to Windows 11 on my workhorse Photoshop workstation without incident a moth ago. I have a PA311D NEC SpectraView, newer model. Oddly, during a routine Windows 11 update today, it suddenly gave me no internet access via wired ethernet. It also mentioned I'm not calibrated, though I am. I switched to HDMI, and everything is normal. Back to Displayport, no internet. Back to HDMI, internet again, with calibration.

I was able to fix the calibration by fixing permissions altered during upgrade. But why on earth would Displayport conflict with my Marvell ethernet controller, if that's what's happening? Why else would the display cable influence PC's internet connectivity?

Feels so spurious but I repeated it multiple times. Thanks for any ideas or even just speculations.

what are specs of the PC?

i suspect it has to be the PC end, monitors should have no affect on internet connection.

which win 11 update was it? I see a Cumulative update sitting waiting for me - KB5007262
you can tell looking in update history

i found this where DP kills WIFI - https://www.avforums.com/threads/wh...on-drop-when-using-displayport-cable.2260418/
WIFI again - https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us...d-in-via/d48902b8-b925-4a73-90c1-73b9adc14427

HDMI can carry Ethernet but DP can't - link - but unless you plug Ethernet into the monitor and not PC, it shouldn't really be the reason... otherwise no one on DP would have Ethernet.

I'm running an i9 10900 unlocked with 128 GB RAM and Nvidia 2070, a Photoshop build I did 1.5 years ago.

Yes, it was the most recent update KB5007262. Beforehand, I had to update BIOS so I could enable bitlocker and other stuff required for Windows 11.

I agree it makes absolutely zero sense for wired ethernet to have anything to do with displayport cabling, unless the update created a driver conflict (Marvell LAN adapter vs Displayport driver)?

It even changed the permission levels of my Spectraview calibration profile. I had to manually alter the permissions to allow write-over on new calibrations. So a couple weird things happened.

Anyone have any clues how this update could have created LAN vs Displayport driver conflicts? Or something similar? I prefer to use Displayport but I can live with HDMI...
