Necessary laptop motherboard connections

Hello,
I am in the process of organizing a little project where I take an old dell inspiron 1525 and dismantle it to make a flat HTPC in a custom wood case.
My question at the moment is, can the motherboard function (and the computer boot) without the keyboard and trackpad attached? On that note, can it function without any other parts without issue?

As before, any other advice on this plan would be greatly appreciated, even if it has nothing to do with the actual question.

it should, but you may have an issue coz its possible it wont boot in the absence of a keyboard/mouse/hardrive
other than that there should be no problem running it outside the case... and you can always plug in a usb mouse and keyboard 😀
