I have this motherboard: https://www.newegg.com/asrock-x399-taichi/p/N82E16813157785?Item=N82E16813157785

I am trying to find a TPM chip that is compatible with it. The manual says it is a 17 pin slot. Newegg has several "forASRock" TPM chips, but none I see are 17 pin.

I've never had/installed a TPM before, so I don't know what does or doesn't make one compatible with a given board aside from the # of pins. Can I just plug in any 17 pin TPM chip? If not, any suggestions on where to look for a compatible one?

Thanks.

Crap, you're right. I was looking at the manual for the X399M.

Bloody hell. I don't want to have to build a new computer just to install windows 11 next year when support ends for 10...
fTPM is the whole TPM functionality in firmware. Hence, the f.
You do not need to buy a new board for Win 11.

Cool.

Weird that only the Threadripper Pros are on the actual official list on Microsoft's site, but mine is definitely on the PC world list you linked.
The article is two years older than the Microsoft page. Microsoft is constantly updating that page as requirements shuffle around

For instance, the non-pro Threadrippers were supported in 2022 versions of Windows 11: https://web.archive.org/web/2022091...supported/windows-11-supported-amd-processors

EDIT: Worse comes to worst, you could just try installing Windows 11 and see what happens.

Windows 11 also supports the entire vanilla Ryzen 2000 series that the threadripper 2000 series is based on, its weird that they removed it from the support list with no answer as to why. Either way, there are several reports of threadripper 2000 users upgrading just fine, and the upgrade tool saying it'll work alright, you should be good.
