My video card finally died after 3 yrs and need a new one fast. Leaning towards a 6600GT to get me by for the next couple of yrs. Requirements say nothing less then a 350W power supply and the Gateway I have has a 250W.

Now this is all new to me but I think I can change it out as long as there are no suprises. Now the question which one?

Im assuming I can buy a 350W from a leading brand name and have it fit in my PC.

From what I can read on the one I have now is its a Newton Power model NPS 250HB A.

Like I said this is going to be all new to me so any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Will all the 350W power supplies fit my PC?
I beleive my Gateway PC box is an ATXAEG, thats what it says on the back but could be something else, not sure.

thanks

Found this at newegg for around $30. Notice in the FAQ they say Antec,Enermax or TopTower were all good brands. Did he mean TOPOWER or are they a ripoff of the TopTower. This one was half the price as the other two's 350w PS.

The model numbers aren't going to help me, measure how wide the power supply is across the back or bottom, wherever you can get a good width measurement.

Many Gateway systems used a nonstandard width. The internals were standard, turned sideways to make the width narrower. In fact, it's often possible to replace the Gateway internals with better internals.

Well then, if you have 5.5" or more of available depth in your case, you can stick in a standard unit.

Some cases have an oddly shaped hole that requires you to use a power supply with the plug in the same location, most don't. For those that do, sites with pictures (newegg for example) are usefull.

You can get a reasonably good Fortron Source power supply for around $40.
