Need a 144hz cable..

I have an monitor which only supports hdmi, dvi and some third thing but it doesn't support a displayport, my problem is tho that my gpu only supports hdmi and displayport (gtx 1080 ti) And im not entirely sure which cable to use. i bought an hdmi to DP cable but it doesn't support 144hz. which cable do i need to buy? i have been look at various cables but not sure if they can do 144hz

Why not just a regular HDMI cable? The 1080 Ti supports HDMI and so does the monitor, just grab a good HDMI cable.

i have been told it doesn't support it and that the monitor and gpu whatever both have to support something special. which hdmi should i get? i have just read many places an hdmi cant handle 144hz
