For my new Fx-8320 build. I would like to be able to overclock it to 5ghz. Will the gigabyte ga970aud3p and a corsair cx600 be enough to do this? Do I need to upgrade ether or both? Thanks for any answers.

1. I have the same motherboard but a slightly weaker CPU ( FX 6350 overclocked to a very stable 4.3Ghz ) and it gives me no problems whatsoever. I could probably get it at around 4.5-4.6 no problems but I dont trust my cooling to be honest. For a tight budget, the Gigabyte 970A-UD3P is probably the best out there due to it's VRM.If you dont have any restrictions in budget than you can look higher up the class. Getting a FX 8320 to 5.0Ghz will produce an incredible amount of heat. Make sure you have a high end fan&heatsink and the best thermal compound applied correctly.

2.In wattage, 600 is plenty if you dont plan in getting 2 high end GPU's. The CX series of Corsair is however a bit weak.

To OP: keep in mind also that every CPU overclocks differently. Some FX 8320s can hit 5Ghz but only the best binned ones, most can't. Not even all FX 8350s can hit 5Ghz. If you want to be sure to hit 5Ghz you would have to go with something like the FX 8370 or FX 9370 / 9590. I don't recommend the FX 9xxx to anyone who doesn't have the proper supporting hardware as they are 220W beasts (you would need a motherboard like Sabertooth or better for FX 9xxx as well). The FX 8370 would be your best bet if you want the best chance of hitting 5Ghz. For AMD FX overclocks of 5Ghz I would also recommend at least 750W 80+ gold psu (1000W 80+ gold would be ideal), as you want reliable power supply and then have more headroom for GPU and cooling needs (you will need water cooling to get anywhere near 5Ghz).

For that kind of oc you possibly can achieve it as long you have the silicon lottery and watercooling. Also the MSI 970 Gaming is a pretty nice mobo with same power phase design but with SLI support. Well choose the one you can afford though :)
