Need a Anti-Virus for my new PC

I am looking for a fairly good anti-virus software for my system.
I always use to use AVG free, then about a year ago I purchased AVG 2011 and is about to expire.

After buying my computer and some games I really don't want to spend much more money.

So what would be a good choice
AVG 2012
I was also looking at kaspersky
or
Microsoft security essentials
or
AVG free.

I would say that I am fairly computer savvy and know do's and dont's of things that could possibly give you a virus.

I have never used Microsoft security essentials. Has any one had any experience with it?

I use Avast free along with malwarebytes. MSE is pretty good too, though I prefer Avast.

Yap I think that is what I will do I have almost always used Malwarebytes on all of my computers. I actually just bought a copy of it from newegg.com, it was a shell shocker deal and was 50% off. I also used to use cclean but have not used that in a while, dont know why though because I like it.

Another thought is what about ad-aware from lavasoft. For stuff like spyware adware and traking cookies and stuff like that or will one of the other three take care of that stuff too.

Malwarebytes is generally better than ad-aware, but I haven't used ad-aware in a couple years so it may have got better.

I have two hard drives in my computer, a SSD for the OS and a 1TB for storage. Where would the best place to install my anti-virus and malwarebytes? I was thinking the SSD but I don't know if I should just leave the OS on there or if it would be good to have those on there too.

On SSD. Leave system and programs and page file on the SSD.

I am Still looking and reading a bit to find a good AV. I have really never used anything else besides AVG, I have used Norton a long time ago as well as Mcafe (but don't like it). So Is AVG free still a good choice to go with? I will be using it along with malwarebytes.

Jordan_22, I would rather get Microsoft Security Essentials instead of AVG or if u want to get a better one, get Avast.
