[SOLVED] Need a basic cheap gpu

Building a rig for mathematical simulations and casual youtube / web browsing. Got a Ryzen 7 1700 (many threads is a must) and just need a nice cheap gpu to run a fhd monitor and regular pc use, light apps, no gaming.

I should say, Windows 10 is the os.

What do you guys reccomend?

Probally the Nvidia GeForce GTX 1050 would be worth looking at for a decent / cheap GPU. To future proof yourself I'd look at the Radeon RX580 as well. Little costlier, but prices are dropping every day one these cards and are a good blend of casual and performance. Take a look at the latest advise.

I was thinking more in terms of "no bells and whistles" something like a Geforce GT 710 or an older second hand card. Anything you recommend in the ~50$ price bracket? Or are these simply not worth it and I should step up to something nicer? Ty

What if I plan to get a 3k/4k monitor sometime in the future?
GT 710, GT 730 or GT 1030?

All of them support 4k. You'll have to use HDMI or DP connection for it.

I would personally recommend the GT 1030. I would avoid the 710 If I were you. Even if you aren't running very intensive applications, at around $30 more than a 710 he 1030 is much better value

GT 1030 should be fine most of the time. If you want 1080p, the 1050 might be better.
