Hey, new to building computers, have a good grasp on compatibility between pieces, but I still don't have an understanding of what cpu to buy for my personal lifestyle on a computer.
So because of that, I haven't even built a set yet, I was going to be open to your ideas and builds, unless you want me to make a starting point to bag on.
Will be using this desktop for literally building worlds and making films, and music production, and probably more. Thanks in advance.

Your welcome. Also could you provide locatain and budget like usa said.

But you know, its nice to have a lot of power. I dont know if its on your screen but on the right side, the number #1 expert in android is EloiseBrookes and he has only done 3 messages since 11/21/12. Man I wish I was a mod, ban him right now for hacking

That doesn't appear to be any 'hacking'. Maybe a glitch in the matrix.
I shall consult the powers that be.

Actually, I stand corrected. It's not really the useless tag system, it's the useless rankings system. Instead of a rolling average, they reset the counters at the start of each month. Meaning that if you're the first person to get a BA on a particular tag, you're #1 until someone else gets two. For reference, last month the top number of android BAs awarded to one person was four.

However, EloiseBrookes does have a Laptops Veteran+, which seems unlikely, given the relative lack of BAs.

It just looks like a useless system to me; the person hasn't posted since 2012, but a tag was probably added, making the BA count for now rather than years ago.

What programs are you planning to use for this animation and production? If you're doing serious production work you shouldn't be looking at desktop-class hardware. Professional series such as the Xeon would be more optimized for heavy lifting and can support greater capacities of memory if you are needing much more for rendering and large cache workspace. Also, even if you do decide to go with a desktop-class processor and motherboard, do not expect your desktop-class graphics cards to perform optimally in most professional 3D design applications. There's a reason they make the nVidia Quadro and AMD FirePro series of cards and it is for this reason. Yes, they are expensive, but they are built and have drivers optimized exactly for this type of work.

That is a terrible build, sorry for saying.
This aircooler is just as good as h100i.
A 4770 might be a better choice than a 4770k.
Higher frequency ram would be a better choice, and he wont be utilizing 32GB ram.
WD Black > any seagate drive.
780 > 760
Why on earth would you suggest a plat certified PSU? You know what those are made for? Obviously not..
This build is in general better.

He is doing HUGE 3D editing. You are the cpu authority so maybe the 4770 is better 4770k. But its nice to utilize all the power, plus he can overclock. The 32gb is really nice because he is doing HUGE 3D animation like he mentioned. Also, gpu isnt that important in 3D animation so the 760 is fine. If you dont like it you could get a 770. Yeah agreed about the hdd, I forgot to change it to western digital, was kinda in a hurry. Also why the 200r when this is a nice budget build. You can provide a better case for a 1500 dollar build

apologies, I have awoken from my slumber, Washington state, united states.
budget? around 1800
programs:
Autodesk Maya (most shots)
Pixar Renderman for Maya
Autodesk SoftImage XSI
Luxology Modo (model design)
Lightwave (low-res realtime environments)
Houdini (Hell’s Gate scenes, interiors)
ZBrush (creature design)
Autodesk 3d design max (space shots, control room screens and HUD renderings)
Autodesk MotionBuilder (for real-time 3d visualisations)
Eyeon Fusion (image compositing)
The Foundry Nuke Compositor (previz image compositing)
Autodesk Smoke (color correction)
Autodesk Combustion (compositing)
Massive (vegetation simulation)
Mudbox (floating mountains)
Avid(video editing)
Adobe After Effects (compositing, real-ime visualizations)
PF Track (motion tracking, background replacement)
Adobe Illustrator (HUD and screens layout)
Adobe Photoshop (concept art, textures)
Adobe Premiere (proofing, rough compositing with AE)
countless plugins for each platform, some of them Ocula for Nuke, Ktakatoa for 3ds max, Sapphire for Combustion/AE.
Oh and cinema 4d
and FL studio.
sounds bout right, now throw me your suggestions, oh and remember I'm literally going to make new worlds with new species of plant and animal life , with different technology than our own.

the previous build I recommended before is perfect. This one is similar except it has a better gpu

I live in a cold house with close to no insulation, its cold, i don't think I'll need a liquid cooler
could you link a good SSD, I know nothing about them as well do you have a good reference page for ssd's?
I was thinking starting with a 3 or 4 tb hdd system so any links for that?
got a good link for intel quad cores without k overclock?
