I am looking for an inexpensive (IE $1000 or less) way to house 22-24 harddrives for a file/web server i'm building. Rackmount preferable. It does not need to have the ability to mount a motherboard. I will be mounting 5 x 5to1 SATA splitters and a power supply inside.

links appreciated.

I don't know if this has the dimensions to be put into a rack mount or not but this tower would give you enough to house the drives you want now and future expansion....

Then pick-up some 3 5.25" to 5 3.5" SATA Hotswap bays made by SuperMicro (or other companies). I was able to pick-up that server case for about $200 new recently and the hotswap tray units will run about $100-140 a peice.
