Need a cpu cooler that can fit in my pc

i just need the best (cheap) cpu cooler (keep pc cool and its quite) that can fit in my pc. Here are my specs

Case- Corsair Carbide Series 400R Mid-Tower Gaming Case

Dvd and Cd- Lite ON 24X DVDRW SATA OEM

you might want to think about upgrading your power supply sometime in the near future. it definitely is not the best of quality especially if you are trying to overclock that fx 8 core and also run the 280x.

not planing to oc anytime soon cause if i have to i will have to buy a new motherboard also. right now i am just looking for cooling because summer is coming. but if i do want to oc in the future what motherboard and power supply you recommend.

before you drop money on any kind of tower cooler have a quick read of this thread

the g46 is essentially the g43 with some heatsinks added to the vrm
when you drop a tower cooler on a board like this (with a low quality mosfet setup) you remove any kind of secondary air cooling from this area essentially rendering any kind of vrm heatsinking worthless ( they would actually be better exposed in this scenario)
For this reason I wouldnt consider any kind of tower cooler at all,you want something that cools the areas surrounding the cpu aswell as the cpu itself (the amd stock cooler will cureently be doing a better job of vrm cooling than a 212 evo,h7,themis etc will ever do as they blow air a good inch above this area)

go for the raijintek pallas is my advice,its big but flat,a bit of a pain to fit,but it covers half the board,cools the cpu as well as pretty much any 120mm tower cooler & also cools everything with 3 inch of the cpu socket which is what you inherently need imo with an 8 core on that board

That cpu cooler wont fit in my setup my ram has heatsink and that cpu cooler will interfere with my ram

You can mount the Pallas 4 different ways
The way below would not interfere with the ram - the long overhang underneath would sit above the north bridge heatsink on a g46 board.

NP at all mate,never that bothered about prizes anyway
To be fair the h7 suggested is a really good cooler.

The thing is with amd chips,especially the 8 cores,you have to be extra careful & read between the lines sometimes.

I've seen many times the same scenario,people drop a big beefy tower cooler in,CPU temps drop to 50c - in the background the motherboard temps rise insanely & the chip throttles & then it becomes a mystery why performance has suddenly become subpar.

You onlybhave to drop the term 'vrm throttling' in Google to hit 1 million+ results.

With a CPU/vrm cooling combo you're at least going to get the max stability you can on that board.

Until 4 years ago msi produced some dire motherboards imo(the g43 & g46 are from that era)

Thyve come on leaps & bounds since then but they used to be on a par with ecs & biostar ( which is not meant as a compliment)

if and when you upgrade your power supply pick one that is tier 2 or better. your unit is tier 4 which is less than desirable. for simplicity you can just wait around for the basic xfx 550w to go on sale for $25 after rebate which it seems to do fairly often.
