hey guys need to cool an amd fx 8320 cpu on an msi 990FXA-GD80 mobo but the problem is i have 4 dimm slots all occupied with corsair vengeance memory with the massively tall heat spreaders. need an air cooler for about £40 that would fit. the case is an aerocool X-predator full tower gaming case if that helps. thanks in advance guys :)

Solution
Try a Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO with the fan mounted on the back in a PULL config. It is fairly compact and still a great performer and should clear those DIMM heat spreaders.

Otherwise you're looking at spending more on a water cooler to ensure clearance. Something like a Corsair H80 should do the job without breaking the bank. Just make sure you have good airflow over your NB chipset and VRUs.

so the heat will just be carried away by the fan on the top of the case?

*edit* thanks alot man really helped

Yes, that cooler comes with mounts for Push, Pull or both Push+Pull. It is also barely wider than the CPU socket and can be mounted horizontally or vertically. Mounting it parallel to your RAM slots should make it completely clear the DIMM heat spreaders. For typical system boards this orients the fan pulling hot air through the cooler and out the BACK of the case, not the top.
