The stock fan on my ATI All-in-Wonder 9600 Pro is grinding loudly and I've tried cleaning it out, but it's just dying. Does anyone know of a fan that will FOR SURE fit on this? I bought a Vantec Iceberq4, but there are two capacitors on the card that prevent the copper heatsinc from laying flat on the GPU. Please help. Thanks!

I put an old passive sink from a Hurcules GeForce2 MX card on mine, then screwed on a 40mm fan on top. It's superior to the original cooler because it has a deeper fan and more fin area, as well as a longer bearing shaft for less wear from oscilation.

What I'm saying is that any small passive cooler paired with a small CPU fan is a better option than the coolers cards come with. You should be able to find a large chipset cooler with the correct pin placement.

The reason stock coolers are comprimised is to fit within a narrow area. I never put a card next to AGP anyway, so I always have a bit of extra space.

So, what do I need to do? Just find a bunch of old heatsincs/fans and keep trying them till I find one that fits, or is there a more scientific way of finding one? I was hoping to find some exact dimensions that I could just search for on the internet or computer shops.

Actually these things are fairly standard, and used to be even more standard. There are two standard pin layouts for chipset/vga coolers, one has the pins at the corners, the other has them staggered at the sides. Yours and mine are of the second variety. Any standard sized chipset/vga cooler fits (provided you get one with the right pin location to attach it), it's the oversized units that don't.

I'll look for you

Hmm, I'm having a bit of difficulty here, the old stuff seems to be hard to find. Too bad you don't collect these things like me, I upgraded the Hurcules card to a large cooler long ago, so I had this one laying around and added a fan to it.

I work with a local shop, would you like me to source something for you?

Yes, I have several 45mm coolers here that fit 40mm CPU fans perfectly but have no pins...if anyone decides they want to use epoxy.

Thanks, but I'd rather not use epoxy. I'll keep looking, and in the meantime if you do find something that'll fit with pins, I'd probably like to buy that from you.

Would you like me to make one for you from a larger sink that's been cut down?

If it will fit the card using pins, and I can get a fan that will fit the sinc, yeah, that'd be great! How much would I owe you?

I'd include a fan and would make it for $10. The parts would actually be free, the $10 would be for the hour or so I'd spend making the part for you
