Does anyone know of a tried and true fix for a Matshita DVD-Ram UJ8A7AS that won't open? My laptop is a Samsung Notebook Series 3 and am running Windows 7.
looks like its time to just rip it apart to get your disc out and buy a new one.
The drive and DVD-RAM discs work fine in linux.
Time for Microsoft to rip into windows and fix their mess.
But I doubt they will bother, optical discs are a dead technology.
Certain softwares are infamous for locking drives, especially the packet writing kind. Windows 7 has built-in support for MRW (Mount Rainier) packet writing.
Right-click on the drive letter and see if anything is waiting to be written under Burn to Disc. If any, delete them or Manage-->Finish burning
