I bought a HP paviliona6720f with these specs;
1.AMD Phenom X4
9550 quad-core processor
2.6GB System Memory
3. 640GB Hard drive
4. Nvidia GeForce 9100 graphics
5. Windows Home Premium
64 bit edition with service pack 1.

I am new to pc gaming and not to computer savey. Eventually I want to replace everything in the tower but, I would like to start with a new graphics card so I can play some of the newer games. Please let me know what are some of the best graphics cards I can buy/ my computer can handle for about $500(a little over wouldnt mind and under would be greatly appreciated) until I can replace the rest of the computer.Im thinking long term as well so something that can handle the newer upgrades of other pieces. Please help.

$500 isn't much but you could get by with this.

PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant / Benchmarks

CPU: AMD FX-4130 3.8GHz Quad-Core Processor ($89.96 @ Amazon)
Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-78LMT-USB3 Micro ATX AM3+ Motherboard ($49.99 @ Microcenter)
Memory: G.Skill Ripjaws X Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-2133 Memory ($63.75 @ Newegg)
Storage: Western Digital Caviar Blue 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive ($59.98 @ OutletPC)
Video Card: PowerColor Radeon HD...

How do I check the PSU?

Ok, I mainly just bought it because the person selling it to me sold it with a 32in 2013 monitor that he paid a grand for so.. do you know of anyone that would sell me a decent gaming tower(without the monitor) that i could up grade over time for $600-700?

It would be cheaper to build yourself.

Thank you very much.. I was looking at the link rollie shared of the build your own computer for $650, would that be my best chance or a better idea long term and finacial wise?

Long term, a bigger budget would be better. I built my PC for about $650 and it runs just about everything I've played at max 1080p settings.
