Country of purchase:

Ireland

Budget range:

I don't really have budget constraints because I'm going to need one whether I want it or not. But, right now I'm looking for an alternative to the Macbook Pro, so probably something cheaper than that(1250 euro.)

Purpose (netbook, ultraportable, mainstream, gaming, desktop replacement, etc.):

College, coding.

Screen size preference:

Don't care.

OS preference (Windows/Mac/Linux):

I'd like to dual-boot Windows/Linux. If not, then just Windows.

Other performance requirements (video editing, CAD, etc.):

Able to run a VM and IDEs, SSD is nice for this but it cuts too deep into the wallet.

Portability requirements (constantly carried, frequently moved, mostly stationary, etc.):

Constantly carried and frequently moved, college.

Brand preferences and reasons (already owned accessories, familiarity, business compatibility):

Nope.

* Any particular style that you like (examples are great):

Nope.

Long battery life -vs- Low weight -vs- High performance:
Long battery life.

Build quality -vs- Low price:
Build quality.

List any critical features:
500+ GB storage, 8+GB RAM, Intel i5+, Win7+/OSX. All of this NEEDS to be here.

Thanks.

I've Googled it, many people are saying it's not worth it. Not many guides at all either, and I'd rather not go through all of the pain ordering the parts and then assembling them. Besides, need a laptop sooner than later.
