Need a laptop for college

Hello,
I am starting college in the fall, and have a few questions. I'm only familiar with desktop PC components and prices--I'm not very knowledgeable with laptops. I am looking for a laptop preferably under 800 US Dollars. Whats the best I can get for that price?
Are there any new mobile CPUs coming to laptops in the summer that I should wait to buy?
Are there any good Ryzen laptops in this price range? (I don't like Intel but will buy from them if AMD doesn't compete in this market.)
