I just built my new rig, fully equipped with a GTX 580. I easily get over 120FPS with this thing and I plan to buy another GTX 580 to run in SLI. Before I do that, though, I need to upgrade my monitor. I'm running an acer x163w. Its old. 8ms Response time, mediocre contrast ratio, you name it.

I need to buy a new flat panel, and I'm thinking that, because of my graphics setup, I should be aiming for 120hz. If that's the case, can I get some suggestions? If it's not correct, can someone steer my in the right direction?

Size isn't everything, though I will consider a 30inch, it's won't be top priority. Thanks a ton in advance.

Just in case for some reason my system specs are needed:

i7 950@ 3.06GHZ
8GB Corsair Dominater RAM @ 1600
1TB Samsung Spinpoint HD
PNY GTX 580
HAF 932 Case
Corsair TX950 PSU

what i list in brackets isn't my firsthand knowledge but i saw it flung around these posts a few times: [120hz tvs generate a black image in between frames since they get a signal at 60hz not 120hz. artifacts may appear, if they do make sure vsync is on]

before making any recommendations we should know how much money you want to spend on a monitor. also we should know what you would prefer in terms of size. i will list a few ideas for you to look into/ask about:

30" dell large format display. double resolution of conventional monitors, double the price as well. i dont have one but someone recommended it last week in a post.

40" sony bravia lcd 1080p. same price range as the lfd. i personally use one for my main monitor and for gaming purposes. works great over hdmi.

20.1 to 24" viewsonic monitors. i used a vp201b on my last rig and i was highly impressed with the quality of this piece. they have modern pro/consumer offerings that i am sure reflect that quality. expect $350-600.

24" dell lcd. i dont own one but i've heard mostly positive things about them.
