need a value overclocking board that isnt buggy with ddr4 ram that i keep seeing a lot of people talk about with ryzen cpu's.

it can be a micro atx or a regular atx

will be using a standard ssd so it can have m2 support but it also needs to be able to allow me to use normal ssd and 7200 rpm sata

i dont care what brand dont care what it looks like or if it has led's just want a good old max $110 board and lower if possible. i also use optical out on my headset so if i need to get a soundcard to use that and motherboard doesnt have it thats fine so i will need a pci for my 1070 and a pci for a soundcard if you cant find with optical sound out.

the ram needs to be able to clock good but i dont want anything fancy just some $80ish ram or less.

decided i wont be doing sli and will just run single gpu and upgrade to 1080i eventually

Solution

Where is the ram?

A higher resolution will put the load more on the gpu so the Ryzen 5 1500X might be a good choice too,

Hi somelilboy :)

ASUS Crosshair VI Hero or ASUS Prime X370-Pro both have SLI capability and best quality MBs. They may not meet your budget however shop around.

The ARC line of PSUs are not the best. You need an 850W Gold certified PSU if you intend to OC your CPU with two cards in SLI and to allow for future expansion. Seasonic, Antec or EVGA are good quality.

at what resolution will you be playing?

that psu is not good no

1440p 144hz

with a ryzen 5 that is going to be disappointing

get a 4k 60 hz monitor if you want dual 1070's

otherwise pretty bad cpu bottleneck, its not recommended for high refresh situations

i dont understand what you mean ive decided to just run single gpu and upgrade to future to a 1080ti i am running ddr3 with a i7 930 right now and really wanting to upgrade and the ryzen 5 looked promising so what are you trying to say its overkill for a 1440p 144hz? because 4k 60hz is still the same amount of data from what i read.

it is not good enough for 144hz gaming

ryzen is a workhorse cpu that can game, but is not particularly great at it

you want a i7 7700k for high refresh monitors

yeah i know the 7700k is one of the best if not the best gaming cpu but the 1600 r5 has to be a big improvement from the i7 930 i got now

but i see what your saying 7700k is way out of budget and that just brings me back to another thread again with a budget of 300ish dollars for a cpu and mobo for gaming at 1440p as close as possible 100+ fps what do i need for a cpu and motherboard ryzen cpu's or some i5 6600 or something? i really need help here i will be giving my wife my old computer and i am trying to build something better for me to play high end games

true, just be aware that the ryzen is not good enough for 144hz gaming

it is more for a decent 60hz setup with something like a rx 580 or gtx 1060 6gb

i edited my post can you elaborate on what i edited

no thats way out of my budget im kinda stuck between i5 6600k vs r5 1600 and going to overclock but it needs to be no more then $400 for the cpu and mobo and ram

that is terrible value for gaming

It might be abit behind in games that do very wel multuthreaded, but that might be ~10 fps lower at about max.

Another option for the 1600 is,

Both are abit over budget, but imo worth that. The motherboard in the first build has the outputs you want and a better soundchip (Realtek® ALC1220 codec) as well.

Read some reviews about the difference between the cpu's.Something DX12,
http://www.guru3d.com/articles_pages/amd_ryzen_5_1500x_and_1600x_review,20.html
it has the resolution you play on in there.

From what i read are the ram sticks made with Samsung chips which Ryzen seems to favor, they aren't on the QVL list though, but they can only test so many ...

look at the post I responded to

i am for sure getting a 1600. what do you think about this board?
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B06XPM7FSR/_encoding=UTF8?coliid=IJW2H1NKL8JOJ&colid=66Y723O5U78R

also is there a major difference if a board cant support above 2400mhz and 3000mhz with another board? if not then ill just stick with 2400mhz and save my money also i might get this https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0123ZBPDA/_encoding=UTF8?coliid=I29FCMFZHDAJZ9&colid=66Y723O5U78R
and just get 2x 4gb 3000mhz for now then upgrade and add 2 more on top of that so 4x 4gb in future what are your thoughts?

reason im showing this board is that board with optical out are out of stock is there another one around same price with that otherwise im thinking about the pc mate board
