Hi! I want to upgrade my PC with a new CPU, and I decided to go for a Ryzen 3 3100. Now I need to buy a new motherboard o pair with the CPU. My preferences are:

  • probably a b450 chipset, for future upgrade to 5000 series while being cheap
  • no wi-fi required
  • at least 6 usb ports or more
  • be below 100 dollars if possible
  • at least some decent VRMs, as my pc doesn't have great airflow
I'll be reading comments for any board recommendatios you might be able to give me that fit my needs, or any other boards with different chipsets that might be useful.

I'd say go with a b550 board.
It's compatible with ryzen 5000, and was built for zen 2 , unlike b450 which is a generation older.

Some b550 boards need an older generation cpu to update the BIOS before you can use them with ryzen 5000 though.

I'd say the gigabyte boards are nice, mostly because of their Q flash thing where you can update the BIOS without a cpu.
Other manufacturers have that too, but I think gigabyte is the only one that includes that feature in sub $100 boards.

Gigabyte B550 DS3H, $94 (this has Qflash plus)

Or maybe ASRock B550 Phantom gaming 4 , $89
