I have a H110M-E/M.2 with i5 6500. I've been told the motherboard is throttling the CPU and it was already the weakest link in the benchmark test.

Would I get any more power out of a better motherboard? The CPU works pretty good, not in need of a major upgrade.

I am mainly upgrading for some RGB functionality on the motherboard.

I can spend $200 for motherboard and CPU or $125 for a new motherboard to use with this CPU.

I've been told the motherboard is throttling the CPU ....

:tearsofjoy: That's hilarious! Please never listen to them again; no amount of swapping motherboards will unlock any hidden performance gains.

You have a locked 4 core/4 thread processor, meaning you cant overclock it. This my not be an issue depending on you usage.

What are the rest of your systems specs ?
perhaps we can spend your $ more wisely.

What do you do with your PC that needs more CPU ability?

So I mainly just game on it so I really don't need to upgrade. But the CPU was the bottleneck in my last system benchmark so I figured I would upgrade that.

Right now it's fine but I was thinking of adding some rgb fans in there.

I have 16gb ddr4 patriot viper pc4-24000 3000mhz. I think this motherboard only does 2200mhz?

Rx 580 8gb GPU.

Thermaltake level 20 vt case.

I really just wanted a motherboard with rgb connectivity and figured I might as well upgrade the CPU while I'm at it.

But really nothing needs to be upgraded
