So my computer started off as a simple dell family computer, but I wanted to game on it so I slapped in a GTX 770 SC (as well as a new fan and power brick) and it works great. I'm talking gta v max graphics around 50-60 fps. However my computer is SLOW and the graphics performance is beginning to lag. In some games I'm not getting nearly what I should be getting and I feel like its my processor that's pulling me down. I currently have a Intel core i5-3330 @3.00GHz. I need a new one that's cheap but better than what I have. $200 dollars is a little pricey but if that's what I need I'll take it. Even willing to overclock if necessary. (I have 8 gigs of ram if it matters)

so your i5 3330 is LGA 1155 so i believe an i7 3770k or an i5 3570k are good and overclockable but your 3330 should be fine really max graphics on gta at 50-60 fps is really good nothing seems wrong there

The Thing is, my computer is just really slow, not good at multitasking, and the startup is HORRIBLE. Like I cant use my computer for like 3 minutes after startup because it takes so long. Is that due to my processor?

you'll want a new mobo to go with a newer cpu. you currently have an 1155 socket while the newer i'5 are 1150 for haswell and 1151 for the new skylake ones.

to simply swap the cpu out for a new socket 1155 cpu would be well over $200 and probably not worth the cost.

long boot up times and such usually mean there are a masive amount of things trying to run at once. have you turned off all the stuff on start-up that is not needed? most people never look at this and have 30 things running at start-up which slows down boot time as well as hogs resources while it is running.

That's due to your slow hard drive. A good SSD will fix your computer right up!

I recommend the 850 evo 250 gb for $89.00 Great value/performance.

might be your HDD...can i ask? how old is your computer and what HDD do you have installed.
HDDs can get slow overtime you should consider getting an SSD your computer will be a lot faster!

Interesting, I think you could be right as its the same hardrive that came with the pc

I think that's what it is, The computer is pretty old now. What do you suggest I get?

an ssd may speed some stuff up but a 3 minute boot time is not the hard drive itself necessarily. try cleaning up the start-up items and see how much of a difference that makes. even with 8 gb of ram a bunch of stuff running in the back ground will slow everything down.

Before you go spending money on a new SSD, try this:

Go to the Start button and type msconfig into the search box. Run msconfig. Open the "Start-Up" tab to see what your computer is loading and running at start-up. Check each program and be sure that you need it. If you're not sure what a program is or does, Google it! When done, click Apply then OK. Reboot and see how it does.

Eliminate all of the unnecessary crap! It should help your start-up times a bunch!
