Need a new CPU to pair with my rx 480

So I have an rx 480 and an fx 8350 and I'm looking to upgrade my CPU to a better one or get a new gpu, I'm wondering what motherboard and CPU I should get at around the 250-300 mark point. And if not what gpu should I get that would work well with the fx 8350 and get maximum performance. I also want DDR3 not DDR4 and I have a thermaltake tr2
600.

I hate to say it, but I'd uprgrade CPU/mobo/RAM. The rx 480 is very strong. By upgrading you could sell off the old components. Upgrading your 5yr old CPU to a new platform will give you benefits.

I assume you are gaming at 1080p, is that right? and at 60Hz?

You could use for $250 - $300 budget to purchase an AMD Ryzen 7 1700 CPU, which is currently selling for $267 on NewEgg. You could then sell your FX-8350 / MB / RAM as a combo on Ebay and use the proceeds to buy an AM4 socket motherboard and DDR4 RAM.
