Hey Guys,

Im currently running an I5-6600k 1060 6gb build and its quite old and struggling so i need a new build but unsure of whether to go for AMD or Intel

Would anybody be able to send a list of components for an AMD and Intel build within the price range of 1500-2k excluding peripherals as i already have some, just need a decent build to run games such as World of Warcraft, Rust, warzone etc without issues

Thanks in advance!

Do you have a monitor or is one to be included in the budget and if you do have a monitor what is the make and model?

I didn't include a gpu in this build for the simple fact the Nvidia RTX 4070 and RTX 4060 are due to be released next month (April). Expect the 4070 to retail for $600 - $700 and the 4060 to retail for $400+.

Low profile RAM so it doesn't impede the cpu cooler.

Add an RTX 4070 Ti 12GB + 1440P 170Hz G-Sync IPS gaming monitor to that build and it would look something like this.

On your first question, I will recommend that an upgrade from an intel processor stick with Intel.
Similarly, when upgrading a Nvidia gpu, stick with a Nvidia upgrade.
The environment will be familiar with little learning curve.
At any price point the price/performance between two camps will be similar.

Do you have anything that you would like to reuse?
A case, psu, ram, ssd for instance.
For games, like you play, the single thread performance is all important.
Run the cpu-Z bench and look at the single thread rating.
It should be about 459:

Your rating may be somewhat less if you have not overclocked.
My suggested replacement would be the $300 I5-13500 with a rating of 764:

It comes with a stock cooler.
Most any lga1700 motherboards will do.
A B660 or B760 based MATX DDR4 motherboard will be $100 to $150.
I would plan on reusing your DDR4 ram, whatever the speed. Intel does not depend on fast ram for performance. If you need more capacity, 3600 speed is about the sweet spot.

A graphics upgrade to a 3060 class card might be appropriate.

A I5-31500 can drive a much stronger card if you get into fast action games or 4k resolution.
To that end, I suggest a quality 850w psu.
Look for a 7 to 10 year warranty.
Cprsair rmx or Seasonic focus are good places to start.

I dont think i plan on reusing any components for the simple fact ill probably just try and sell my current pc, and go with a brand new build, i would also like to stream casually aswell for friends and such or if im bored do you still recommend sticking with intel for this or would amd be better?

Thanks

Either will perform comparably for the price.
You will find that most posters will recommend what they have(including me)
That is in part to boost their own judgement, but I think also that one boosts what they know best.

The key to streaming is to have sufficient ram; 32gb is likely what you want.
