[SOLVED] need a new motherboard, could use some advice

hey guys! i need some help. bought a motherboard i thought was good and apparently it wasnt compatible.... my current board isnt recognizing my ram speed correctly... i have 16gb ripjaw 3200mhz... speccy is telling me only 1064... so im looking for a good gaming motherboard budget is $250-$300.

They are perfectly compatible.

speccy is telling me only 1064

Bear in mind this is probably only single. DDR is double data rate, so in reality it's probably 1064 x 2 = 2128 or 2133, which is normal and what virtually all RAM modules will run at without overclocking.

It supports up to 2933 on your CPU. Nothing wrong with your current combo, you just probably won't reach 3200 speeds.

oh. i meant i bought different motherboard that i had to return because it wouldn't even boot... so i went back to the current one.


what would you recommend then as my most needed upgrade? getting really low benchmarks compared my my friends much older pc. it runs fine for me but im starting to have issues running some games on higher settings. i used to be able to run just about anything at max, but it seems to be getting bogged down a bit. also my boot times have gone from 20 secs to over 2 mins in the last year. i have run endless optimization programs and cleared out as many temp files and old registry files and it seems to keep getting worse as time goes on.
tryin to figure out what i should update to get a bit more performance.

Ah my apologies, I must have misunderstood your original post.

What benchmarks are we referring to? Benchmarks really are a poor qay of identifying if the system is working as it should or not. Is your friends build the exact same?
