Question Need a new rig £900 roughly

need a new rig for my brother about £900 he was looking at 2700x and Nvidia GPU for video editing is what he has said maybe a few games thanks for the replies UK shops only please.

If you can wait just a couple more weeks the release of ryzen 3000 series is upon us so even if you dont want a 3000 cpu the prices should drop on the 2700x

This is a pretty nice system. The only problem is that it's not really overclockable unless you upgrade the power supply. You could also wait for Ryzen 3000 and get an equivalent CPU for cheaper.

With Ryzen 3rd gen coming out in about a month and a half I'd probably get a cheaper Ryzen 5 1600 for now and excellent aftermarket cooler and overclock it to 4ghz. This will give you near 2600/2700X gaming performance and may hold off a CPU upgrade until 4th gen in 2020 which is rumored to be the last CPU gen for the AM4 socket. Going with the cheaper CPU allows for a better GPU (up to 1440P gaming) and the 1600 has hyperthreading so should handle the video editing well.

What's wrong with it?

The only potential issue I see with it is that PSU. While the CXM series are ok 450W is cutting it very close, especially for a system that would be gaming & video editing.
