I'm looking to purchase a pc for my dad who is almost 80 years old. He is currently using my old P4 computer that is at least 10 years old. Every time I go on it, it's painfully slow and recently the fan fell off of the graphics card so rather than put money into fixing it, it's time to upgrade. My dad is very technologically challenged, he pretty much thinks the entire internet is comprised of google, facebook, youtube and hotmail so that's all this pc will be used for.
I am looking to go for the cheapest possible build that will last him hopefully for as long as he is using a computer.

I came up with this build:

or I can buy a refurbished one for around half the price:

What would you guys do in my situation? Are the more modern components worth the extra cost?

that would be perfect for him function wise. although, you may be able to find something on eBay for half the price, spec wise I you'll be able to get a lot more even though I know it's not to important
