Need a PSU recommendation

Someone told me that my GPU needs two 8 pin connectors and the psu I selected has one. I know my psu only has one 8 pin connector, but does my gpu actually need 2? And if so, recommend one please?

That's not true, the 280x doesn't need two 8-pins, only one 6 and one 8 pin.

your psu comes with 2 6/8 pins, so i think you should be good.

That's not true, the 280x doesn't need two 8-pins, only one 6 and one 8 pin.

Why don't you actually look at Sapphire's specifications for the SAPPHIRE TOXIC R9 280X 3GB GDDR5?

It clearly states:

• 2X150 Watt 8-pin PCI Express power connector is required.

This is a non-reference design, factory overclocked card that can draw a lot more power than a reference design card.

The graphics card itself will check if you have or haven't connected the appropriate PCI-E power connectors.
